Parlo is a live AI-interpreted chat room that you can share with a QR code or a link.
Open a room and show the QR code to the other person. They can join in their browser without an app or sign-up. You can each speak in your own language. Around 130 languages are supported on smartphones and PCs.
Your conversations are not stored on the server.
**You do not need to sign up.** From the home screen, tap โก Start interpreting now. A room opens, and a QR code appears.
The other person only needs to scan the QR code. They do not need an app, a sign-up, or a name. Parlo picks up their phone's language, and the conversation starts.
You can also use the ๐ Lexi dictionary ยท translate without an account. Enter a word to get its meaning, or enter a sentence to get its translation.
You only need an account for two things: opening a chat room you keep using, and keeping your rooms when you change phones.
To sign up, tap โ at the top right. Enter your email, tap Get code, and type the 6-digit code from the email. Sign-up and login happen in one step. Codes last 10 minutes.
You can add a password in Account. Then you can log in without a code next time.
Write your name in your own language. Adding a version in brackets helps others read it. For example: Minsu(๋ฏผ์)
You will see only โก Start interpreting now on the start screen. Everything else is kept out of the way, so you can find it quickly when you are in a hurry.
๐ Lexi dictionary ยท translate โ tap the heading to open it. You do not need an account. A word gets you the meaning, and a sentence gets you the translation. You can also tap the ๐ค and speak.
๐ฒ Install as an app โ use this to put an icon on your home screen.

๐ข Announcement room โ one person makes announcements, and many people read them in their own languages. It is made for events where people from several countries work together. Guests can only read; they cannot write, because there is no input box. They only need to scan the QR code. They do not need to install anything, sign up, or enter a name. The person who opens the room needs an account so the same QR code keeps working.
An announcement room shows only posts made after you join. Past announcements are not sent because they have already ended.
Up to 1,000 people and 12 languages can be supported at once. The room shows how many people are watching now. When the event ends, close the room with Delete room at the top.
Parlo has three kinds of rooms. Choose the one that fits what you are doing.
๐ฌ Chat room โ use this for people you keep in touch with. Like a normal messenger, the room stays available, and its address and QR code never change. You need an account to open one because the room must belong to an account to survive a phone change.
โก Urgent interpreting โ use this once with someone you have just met. They need no account and no name. Opening the QR code or link picks up their phone language and takes them straight into the chat. When you finish, tap End interpreting. The room disappears, and the transcript stays on your device.
๐ฌ You can enter a chat room even when the other person is offline. Leave a message, and the arrival notice will call them.
Up to 100 people can join one room. Up to 5 languages can be interpreted at once in a single conversation.
An urgent room does not disappear just because the connection drops, such as during a phone call or when the screen turns off. It closes only when you tap End interpreting, or after you have been away for a while.
You can reread a finished session under Past interpreting logs on the start screen. Delete it there when you no longer need it.
What you write appears on the other person's screen in their language. Their messages appear in yours.
Tap a bubble once to open the original text in blue.
Press and hold a bubble to open the menu: Copy ยท Reply ยท Retranslate ยท ๐ฉ Report ยท Delete. You can delete only your own messages.
Status marks: โ sent ยท โณ translating ยท โ๏ธ typos in the original were corrected before translating ยท โโ read (with count)
Summary summarizes the conversation so far in your language. You can copy it.
To leave, tap โ at the top left and go straight to the home screen. The phone's system back button closes only the panel you opened, such as the dictionary, participants, or summary. To leave the room, press it again when nothing is open, and then confirm.
If you have unread messages, the room opens at the โUnread from hereโ line. Tap โฌ at the bottom right to jump to the newest message.
You can fix display names in Settings (โพ) โ ๐ฅ Participants. Tap โ๏ธ beside a name. Guests can change their own names in the same place.
Numbers and units arrive in the unit the other side normally uses. "85 degrees Celsius" comes through as "85 degrees Celsius (185ยฐF)". "90 ft-lb" comes through as "90 ft-lb (122 Nยทm)". The original value stays in brackets, so you can always check it. Tool sizes in inches, such as a 3/8 inch wrench, are left alone.
If a translation does not look right, press and hold the bubble and choose [๐ค This translation is off]. Only those two lines, the original and the translation, are stored to improve quality. They are deleted after 90 days. You will see exactly what will be stored before you send it.
When the input box is empty, you will see the ๐ค microphone. Tap it once to start listening, and tap again to send.
๐/๐ (Read aloud): when this is on, the other person's messages are spoken after translation. It is off by default.
Tap ๐ at the end of a bubble to hear that sentence again.
If you hear nothing, your phone may not have a voice for that language. The screen will tell you and show a Get voice button. Tap it to open Google's โAdd languageโ. If it is still silent, set Settings โ Text-to-speech โ preferred engine to Google.
Speech recognition and playback use your device's built-in features, so quality varies by device.
Tap ๐ next to the input box to send photos and files.
In 1:1 chats, the phones first try to transfer files directly, up to 100MB. If that fails, the server relays them briefly.
In group rooms, files pass through the server for 30 minutes only, up to 10MB. Large photos are made smaller automatically.
For data protection, files over 5MB on mobile data download only after you tap Receive.
Use Settings (โพ) to set the translation quality and situation. You can leave everything as it is because the default is automatic.
Parlo uses two paid AI APIs โ GPT (OpenAI) and Gemini (Google). Gemini handles fast translation, while GPT handles precise translation. If one service has trouble, the other can take over. Input and output sent to the paid Gemini API are not used to improve Google products. Input and output sent to the OpenAI API are not used to train or improve OpenAI models unless you separately opt in. Both providers may still process or retain some data for a limited period for safety, abuse prevention, and legal obligations.
In settings (โพ), under Interpreting, use the โ๏ธ Translation button to switch between Auto (default) ยท Fast ยท Precise. Auto sends only long, number-heavy, or technical sentences to Precise. Retranslate in the long-press menu always uses Precise.
๐ฏ Context: tell Parlo the situation, such as a hospital, construction site, or restaurant. It will translate with suitable tone and terms. Even if you do not set it, the AI detects the situation from the conversation and suggests it.
The small โ dot next to the room name shows the translation server status. Green means normal, amber means slightly delayed, and red means busy. Originals are always delivered instantly. Only the translation may be delayed when the server is busy.
In August 2026, we scored 200 self-built sentences across 10 language directions. The sentences covered field work, casual speech, and context-dependent dialogue. The engine names were hidden. A separate AI checked every error verdict against the source again.

This is our own evaluation, not an official certification. We publish the sentence design, scoring method, limitations, and even the cases Parlo got wrong. We use them to improve.
Tap ๐ฅ in a room to see the participants. Registered users in the same room can add each other as friends right away. This works like exchanging cards, and the other person gets a notice.
QR card: on the home screen, go to ๐ฅ Friends โ ๐ My QR card to show your QR code. The other person scans it with their camera and taps once to confirm. Your name and email are then saved to their friends list. The email itself is never inside the QR code. The code lasts 10 minutes.
Only you can see your friends list. You can send room invitations by email.
Close the screen and come back later. The missed conversation fills in automatically. If you log in on another device, such as a phone or PC, the recent conversation catches up in the same way. Older history stays on the original device only.
If you allow notifications, messages that arrive while you are away come as alerts. Alerts never contain message content. On iPhone, this works when Parlo is installed as an app.

Language: choose one, or type it yourself.
Situations (up to 3): enter the topics you will talk about, such as factory equipment, football, or cooking. They appear in the room title.
Level: Auto (recommended) ยท Beginner ยท Intermediate ยท Advanced. Beginner keeps sentences very short and simple.
AI partner: choose a gender, female or male, which affects the voice and speech style, and an age, such as peer ยท elder ยท toddler ยท child ยท teenager ยท university student. You can also describe anyone you want. For example: a strict interviewer, a market vendor
My role: write the role you will play. For example: a job applicant, a traveler
Reading the bubbles (three colors) โ yours: what you wrote โ the sentence in the practice language (blue) โ its pronunciation (amber). AIโs: the practice-language sentence โ pronunciation (amber) โ meaning in your language (gray).
Write in your language or the practice language. Both work. Awkward phrasing comes back corrected with โ๏ธ. Impolite expressions toward your partner are also pointed out.
Tap ๐ค once to speak, tap again to send. The ๐ button next to the mic switches the recognition language between the practice language and yours.
Tap ๐ to hide the pronunciation and meaning lines and keep only the practice language. This is useful for listening practice. While they are hidden, tap a bubble to peek at just that one.
๐ on an AI bubble plays its pronunciation again. ๐ on your bubble plays your sentence in the practice language.
๐ (bottom of the settings screen) erases the practice history.
Practice conversations are not stored on the server. They stay on this device only. You can have up to 30 turns a day, free.
Pick ๐ฌ Companion, the first chip in the language list. The AI becomes a companion who chats and listens in your own language, with no pronunciations, meanings, or corrections.
Combine it with situations, such as hometown or my old job, and an AI partner, such as a university student like a grandchild, to create a personalized companion. It speaks and listens by voice, which suits older users well.
Tap [๐ Lexi dictionary ยท translate] on the start screen to open it. No sign-up and no login are needed. It works even when nobody is on the other side, so you can read a sign or prepare what you want to say.
A word gets you the dictionary, and a sentence gets you a translation. You never have to choose. Lexi also chooses the direction for you. Even if the pair reads EnglishโKorean, typing Korean sends it to English.
Hold the ๐ค on the right and speak. Let go, and Lexi looks up what it heard. The โค below translates what you typed. The ร inside the box clears everything at once.
Under the result, you will see: Listen (the button turns blue while it speaks; tap again to stop) ยท Copy ยท Cut ยท Clear ยท Back-translate ยท This translation is off.
Back-translate sends the translation back into the original language. This lets you check whether the meaning survived. Different wording is fine as long as the meaning holds. A natural translation rarely comes back word for word.
Unlike an ordinary dictionary, Lexi reads the sentence around the word. Look up "helmet" in a workshop conversation, and it gives you the meaning used in that setting, with an example sentence.
You can also use it during a conversation. Press and hold a message bubble, choose Lexi, and then tap the word. You can type into the dictionary panel inside a room too. The source language follows whoever spoke last.
If a language is not in the list, choose โ๏ธ Other languageโฆ and type its name. Languages you type and the pair you used last stay there for next time.
Save useful words with Save to word list. Saved words come up instantly next time. Practice with my words sends them to the AI role-play.
Use ๐ค to export your word list and ๐ฅ to import it. The export is plain text, so you can paste it into a note or an email and carry your words to a new device.
Your word list is stored on this device only. It is never uploaded to the server or shared with other devices.
Tap ๐ฒ Install as app at the bottom of the home screen. This gives you a home-screen icon that works like an app.

On a PC, use the install icon in the address bar to create a desktop icon.
On Android, Parlo is also available on Google Play. Installing it from the store gives more reliable notifications. The web version has the same features.
Conversations are not stored on the server. History stays on each device.
To report an inappropriate message, press and hold it and tap ๐ฉ. Room owners can remove participants.
Messages pass through AI translation, so the translator may refuse severe profanity and show it untranslated.
Automated abuse, such as machine-driven mass connections or messages, is blocked automatically.

โConnection lostโ: during feature updates, the connection may drop for a minute or two. Refresh shortly after, and it should recover. The conversation fills back in.
No login code: check your spam folder. Only the most recent code is valid. You can request another code once per minute.
Microphone not working: check that your browser has microphone permission.
Weird link behavior in KakaoTalk: instead of using the in-app browser, open the top-right menu โ โOpen in another browserโ.
